More than 100 bars and restaurants participate in the 10+1 edition of Tapapiés, which brings tapas back to the bars of Lavapiés.
Tapas return to the bars of Lavapiés. More than 100 bars and restaurants in the Madrid neighborhood are participating in the 10+1 edition of Tapapiés, from Thursday, November 18 to Sunday, November 28.
After its competition format last year, Tapapiés recovers its most popular version as a tapas route and integrates again the San Fernando and Antón Martín markets. 11 days to taste exclusive bites that fuse the cuisines of the five continents. Estrella Damm sponsors Tapapiés for the tenth consecutive year. Organized by the EnLavapiés Merchants Association.
Tapapiés returns to its usual prices. Each tapa is served at €1.50 and for an additional €1.00 it is accompanied by a bottle or can of Estrella Damm. The public can vote for their three favorite tapas at Enlavapies.com, where they can also access information about each participating establishment.
In addition, just for voting, the public can enter a prize draw for several prizes. The tapa that best pairs with Estrella Damm, a beer brewed according to the original recipe from 1876, resulting from the combination of barley malt, rice and hops (100% natural ingredients, without additives or preservatives), will also be chosen. Most of the tapas offer vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free versions.
Lavapiés once again beats to the rhythm of drums and timbales from other cultures. Batucadas and passacaglias will be on the route every Saturday and Sunday, at noon and in the evening. Tapapiés 2021 opens on Thursday 18 (11:30) at the Palacio de Fernán Núñez (Santa Isabel, 44), with the exhibition of all its tapas and a showcooking by Pepa Muñoz, chef of El Qüenco de Pepa.
By returning to the bars, Tapapiés revives the essence of the bars and taverns of a neighborhood that is looking forward to its recovery. "This year we are celebrating our authentic tenth anniversary," says María Esteban, President of EnLavapiés. "Some of our most historic bars have been on the verge of closing forever because they didn't have a terrace," she explains.
